  • Welcome to Fringefest.ca, an iphone & web application to help you get the most out of your Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival experience. The app provides you with a convenient way to plan your festival and make sure that you know what is on where, and how to get there.

With over 160 productions, 1,200 performances and 39 venues this year, this app will help to make sure you dont miss out on anything. Please visit the OFFICIAL Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival website for full details on the Festival and our year round activities.

  • This website and iphone app were created by Gregg and Angella Coppen of iaminawe as an entry into the Apps4Edmonton competition being held in partnership with The City of Edmonton.

Select data sets were released to the Open Data Catalogue, allowing developers unprecedented access to information associated with North America’s largest and longest running fringe theatre festival. This web and iphone app is powered by 10 of these public feeds.

The Apps4Edmonton contest and the Open Data Catalogue are initiatives of The City of Edmonton that encourage greater transparency in government operations while encouraging citizens to actively engage in their City.

    • Amenity, venue and transport maps to easily get directions to any location
    • Show info and performance schedules for all indoor and outdoor shows
    • Rate and review shows that you like and see what else is being recommended
    • MyFringe allows you to add shows or performances to your own personal schedule and e-mail it when ready
    • General useful info on contacts, vendors, about the festival
    • The easiest way to monitor the festival buzz
  • This web/mobile application was the winner of The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival Special Distinction Award.

"In the spirit of fringe theatre, it was the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival’s hope that developers would use open data information in creative and unique ways that speak to their audience and customers, just as fringe artists use the Festival as a platform for innovative, revealing theatre.

The Festival congratulates Gregg and Angela on their winning entry and wishes them the best of luck competing for more than $50,000 in prize money in the Apps4Edmonton contest that wraps up in the fall."
